A team of lawyers prepared a 47-page document
Investigative journalist Bolot Temirov has filed a complaint with the UN Human Rights Committee, which he announced through his social media.
His team of lawyers, providing free legal assistance, has prepared a document consisting of 47 pages and over 100 points. In this material, Temirov presented evidence of violations of his international rights as a journalist, including the right to a fair trial, protection against arbitrary detention, and freedom of expression.
It is worth recalling that Bolot Temirov was detained after conducting a series of investigations. He was charged with drug possession, illegal border crossing, and document forgery. The court acquitted him of the drug possession charge but found him guilty of document forgery; however, no punishment was imposed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
The Bishkek City Court upheld the first-instance decision but added the deportation of Temirov, who holds Kyrgyz and Russian citizenship, as an additional punishment for document forgery. This decision was immediately enforced.
Currently, Bolot Temirov is outside the country and continues his journalistic activities.
