A Youth Council is being established in Kyrgyzstan under the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh

The main task of the Council is to actively engage youth in the political, social, and economic life of the country.

At today’s meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Tabyldy Muratbekov announced the establishment of a Youth Council that will operate under the Speaker of the Parliament.

As the deputy noted, the implementation of state youth policy in Kyrgyzstan falls under the Ministry of Culture. However, according to him, there are only seven employees working in this area at the central office, and the district cultural departments often act formally.

Muratbekov also added that the idea of creating a Youth Council under the Speaker was proposed earlier and received support from the Speaker. Today, the official launch of this project has been announced.

The main goal of the new Council is to promote the active participation of youth in the social, political, economic, and cultural life of the country, as well as to protect their rights and interests.

According to the deputy, the Council should become a platform for interaction between parliamentarians and the youth of Kyrgyzstan. It is expected that meetings will be held quarterly, where youth will be able to voice their initiatives and proposals, which will be brought up for discussion during sessions.

The Council will include the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputies, representatives of government agencies, youth organizations, activists of youth movements, students, and representatives of international organizations. The executive body of the Council will perform the functions of a secretariat, and regional representations are also planned.

The Chair of the Council will be the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev.

In addition, Tabyldy Muratbekov clarified that no funds from the state budget will be used for the Council's activities.
