In Naryn, work has begun on protection against annual mudflows
The Naryn City Hall has initiated the creation of special mudflow protection structures in four gorges, where drainage channels are also being laid on dangerous streets to reduce the threat of flooding.
As part of the city's resilience enhancement program, dams are being constructed in the "Zhetigen" area of the Ak-Korgon village, as well as in the "Chon Chyrgayluu," "Beishenaliev," and "Suu Saktagych" gorges. Additionally, drainage channels will be created on Chon Tash Street.
A discussion took place on-site aimed at reducing the risks of mudflow flooding and ensuring the safety of residents. The meeting was attended by the city mayor, the head of the Naryn Emergency Situations Department, and local residents. As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to commence the necessary work.
