More than 2.5 million people underwent free screening for viral hepatitis

More than 2.5 million citizens of Kyrgyzstan have undergone free testing for viral hepatitis. Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev reported this at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social policy.

Since the beginning of 2023 and until February 2026, free laboratory testing for viral hepatitis has covered 2 million 506 thousand 791 people. As a result of the screening, 40,942 cases of hepatitis B, 23,039 cases of hepatitis C, and 1,067 cases of hepatitis D have been identified.

Kadyraliev added that patients with negative results are referred for vaccination, while those with positive results receive treatment at family medicine centers.

In collaboration with the Center for Electronic Health, a registry of patients suffering from viral hepatitis has been implemented.

According to the Ministry of Health, in 2025, preventive work will have reached more than 1.5 million residents of Kyrgyzstan.
