In the Kyrgyz Republic, there has been an increase in false reports of terrorist attacks, as reported by the State Committee for National Security (GKNB). The agency's specialists noted that the sources of such signals include both adults and minors.
Law enforcement agencies respond to these reports based on real threats to the life and health of citizens, conducting detailed checks to prevent possible negative consequences. This leads to the diversion of resources from law enforcement and other services from their primary tasks, as well as causing damage to the state budget.
“A false report of a terrorist act is considered a threat to public safety. Such actions disrupt the normal order of life and the functioning of organizations, and also require the evacuation of citizens,” the press release emphasizes.
Most often, such incidents concern schools, shopping, and entertainment centers. False reports of terrorist attacks are considered complete from the moment they are received and can lead to serious consequences, including imprisonment. The Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic provides for criminal liability under Article 259 “Knowingly False Report of an Act of Terrorism.”
The GKNB also emphasized that if such violations are committed by minors, their parents are responsible for their children's actions.
In this regard, the special service urges parents to conduct explanatory work with their children and monitor their behavior. Citizens over the age of 18 are advised to avoid actions that may harm society or the state for personal interests.
