The Heart Surgery Research Institute Completes Recovery After Fire and Prepares for Return
Modern treatment methods are actively being implemented at the institute. Over the past month, five surgeries using minimally invasive techniques - mini-thoracotomies - were performed. Surgeries are being conducted on life-threatening indications for patients with severe cardiovascular diseases, including newborns.
Regular computed tomography has also been organized for the diagnosis of complex congenital heart defects (temporarily based at the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy on Saturdays), and a new echocardiography machine has been acquired. The work of the consultative-diagnostic department has been optimized, and the diagnostic service has been strengthened, which allows for a reduction in waiting times, including for children with congenital heart defects.
After returning to the main building, the institute plans to expand the volume of high-tech cardiac surgical assistance, improve the accessibility of consultations, and strengthen the staff.
