The editorial team of Kaktus.media decided to visit the final stop of the 71st bus, and the journey there turned out to be challenging. We waited for the bus at the Alamedin market for about 45 minutes but did not see it. In the end, we took a taxi to the final stop for 394 soms, and we were shaken quite a bit along the way.
Current situation at the final stop of the 71st bus
When we arrived, we saw that the final stop was nothing but mud, and any vehicle risks getting stuck. There were no signs indicating that this was a stop, and there was no awning. The broken roads are not only observed at the final stop but also along the route of the 71st bus, especially in the area of the former Sadovoe. Only the last 1.5 kilometers of the road were in acceptable condition. When one of the buses finally arrived, we managed to speak with the driver. He reported that there are only four buses operating on the line, and they do not run on weekends because there are almost no passengers—schoolchildren do not travel. Drivers cannot justify the fuel costs due to the poor condition of the roads.
Road problems and driver suffering
The bus driver noted that it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive on such streets. Some sections of the road resemble "asbestos." Repairs are only conducted partially and irregularly.Attempts to avoid potholes lead to new problems, and the bus is constantly shaking. "It feels like the windows might break from the shaking, and the bus's suspension suffers. It would be great if the roads were repaired," the driver shared. In case of a breakdown, for example, if a window shatters, he would have to pay for the repairs, which could cost 25,000 soms, and equipment often fails under such conditions.
