In the Issyk-Kul region, in the village of Ananyevo, wild ducks are sheltering from bad weather alongside domestic ones.

Yuri Gorbenko, a hunter and naturalist, passing through the village, noticed how wild mallards settled next to domestic ducks by the local river.

“The birds were calmly feeding and resting; however, sensing danger, the wild ducks took to the air and disappeared. Mallards can be seen in Kyrgyzstan at any time of the year, and in winter they quite often inhabit Issyk-Kul. But in cold weather, wild ducks prefer to stay not on the shores of the lake, but in shallow rivers that do not freeze,” he noted.
