405 citizens of Tajikistan were released from criminal liability for the "likes" they gave to posts related to extremism and terrorism on social media, as reported by the Asia Plus agency.

The country's Attorney General, Habibullo Vohidzoda, noted that there has been a decrease in the number of crimes related to terrorism and extremism in Tajikistan. In 2025, there was more than a 23 percent reduction in such offenses (by 314 cases) compared to the previous year.

Vohidzoda also emphasized that this positive trend became possible thanks to the directive of President Emomali Rahmon, who ordered not to initiate criminal cases for "likes" and comments on social media. In addition, information exchange and explanatory work with the population were strengthened.

The cancellation of criminal liability for "likes" and reposts, initiated and supported by parliament, was signed by the head of state in May 2025. The president believes that some state agencies had previously unjustifiably initiated cases against citizens, and this practice should be stopped.
