In Tajikistan, there is a decrease in the number of crimes related to terrorism and extremism. This was announced on February 15 at a press conference held by Habibullo Vohidzoda.
He reported that by the end of 2025, the number of such offenses had decreased by more than 23%, amounting to 314 cases compared to the previous year.
The Attorney General noted that achieving such results was made possible by the decree of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, which recommended not to initiate criminal cases for "likes" and comments on social media. In addition, efforts to clarify the legislation were intensified.
As part of the measures to mitigate responsibility, 405 individuals who had been sanctioned for extremist and terrorist crimes were released from criminal liability.
It should be recalled that the abolition of criminal liability for "likes" and reposts was approved by the Parliament of Tajikistan and signed by the President in May 2025. The President expressed the opinion that some government agencies had initiated cases against citizens without sufficient grounds, and this practice needed to be stopped.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Rustam Mirzozoda, previously stated at a press conference that the cases of those convicted for posting "likes" and comments online could be reviewed.
