“Again, departmental conflicts, mask shows in front of the public, humiliation”
Cholpon Jakupova, a human rights activist, shared her feelings and concerns regarding the arrests of security personnel on social media.
“The country has been observing public 'operations' for detaining security forces for several days now. The reactions of people are varied: some rejoice (you used to oppress us, now it’s your turn), others express curiosity, while others wearily state: 'Let them tear each other apart, they deserve it'... Each of them is right in their own way…
As for me, I feel deep bitterness and anxiety. We are once again witnessing departmental squabbles, camera shows, and deliberate humiliation. Is it really impossible to stop this endless cycle?! The surest way to demonstrate that you are not as ruthless as they are is to uphold the law and respect yourself.
It’s enough to play at wars: departmental, regional, national! There are already plenty of worries: I’m tired of living with the feeling of being 'on the brink of a grand upheaval.'
I hope that representatives of law enforcement and officers understand that peace and stability come at a high price,” Jakupova concluded.
