The demolition of old bridges has begun in Osh: two streets will become four-lane roads.

According to local authorities, Mayor Zhenishbek Toktorbaev visited the territorial administration "Alymbek-Datka" on February 17.

At the meeting, it became known that builders need to complete the main concrete work within a month to finish before the start of the irrigation season. "We have time until the end of March, when water will start flowing into the canals. By that time, we must build the supports and structures of three key bridges: at the intersections of Suyunbaeva - Atabaeva, Sargalchaeva - Tolonova, and on Tolonova Street. It is also urgent to complete the construction of supports on St. Petersburg Street. If we do not finish now, floods and spring rains will make further work impossible," the mayor noted.
The reconstruction of the bridges is part of the major repair of Atabaeva and Y. Tolonova streets, which is expected to be completely updated this year and transformed into modern four-lane highways.

According to municipal data, the width of the roads will be increased to 9 meters, which will help eliminate long-standing traffic jams. The construction of new sidewalks and the relocation of utilities are planned (gas pipes have already been relocated). There are also plans for sanitary pruning of trees and improving the appearance of the adjacent area.

The mayor noted that the issue of expanding these sections was raised by residents at annual meetings. The narrow bridges have long been a "bottleneck" for the area. "Previously, we repaired the roads, but the problem of the bridges remained unresolved. Now we are approaching this issue comprehensively. Complaints about slow progress will turn into gratitude when the city gets wide and safe roads," he added.
