In the Batken region, in the rural district of Ak-Turpak, there is a small village called Chogorok.

Despite its modest size, local researchers emphasize the significance of both the village's name and its historical role.

Chogorok is one of the small clans of the Sary Teit tribe, and its mentions can be found in well-known historical sources.

According to information from local residents, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur noted the Chogorok clan among the nomadic tribes of the late 15th century in his work "Baburnama".

In his records, Babur indicated that among the nomads of the Andijan region, there existed a tribe called "chograk", which represented a large clan with five to six thousand households. These nomads lived in the mountains between Kashgar and the Fergana Valley and raised kutas (yaks) instead of bulls, possessing a significant number of horses and livestock.

Some sources also note that in the early 13th century, the Chogorok clan was part of the army of the Khwarezmshahs and migrated towards Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Mongol conquests.

The word "Chogorok" has several interpretations. According to one version, it is related to the terms "chagyr/chakyr" and "nökör" (which translates as retainer or guard of the khan's palace). Local residents also claim that the name can be interpreted as a combination of the words "chogor" (golden eagle) and "ok" (clan, people). This version emphasizes the connection of the ancient Kyrgyz with the culture of hunting with golden eagles, suggesting that "Chogorok" may mean "clan of the eagle" or "people of the eagle".

Today, the village of Chogorok is located on the banks of the Khozhoshken River, where more than 40 households reside. The inhabitants mainly engage in agriculture and livestock breeding.
