At the final meeting of the Bishkek city administration, which took place at the end of 2025, future plans were discussed.
Mayor Aibek Junushaliev reported that significant attention is being paid to the development of preschool education.
“Currently, more than 36,000 children attend kindergartens, but about 29,000 are still waiting for their turn. Over the past three years, 22 new kindergartens have been opened, and in 2026, the construction of another 10 is planned, which will help slightly reduce the shortage of places,” he noted.
In the field of school education, the city administration plans to build and reconstruct 36 educational institutions. Of these, 20 schools will be funded from the state budget, 12 with the help of the Saudi Development Fund, 1 with funds from the government of the Russian Federation, and 3 from the local budget. It is expected that the opening of these facilities will reduce the burden on schools, where the current number of students exceeds capacity by 46,000 people.
Additionally, in 2026, the old swimming pool in the Kozhomkul Sports Complex will be reconstructed, a hospital building will be constructed on Y. Fuchik Street, as well as an ice rink and a multifunctional sports complex on Toktonalieva Street. The construction of a wrestling hall in the Maevka area and sports facilities in Intymak is also ongoing. The commissioning of a 4-story building for the "Station of Young Technicians" and the reconstruction of the "Chatyr-Kul" cinema are also in the plans. Furthermore, updates to the bases of MP "Tazalyk" and "Bishkekzelenstroy" are scheduled.
All these projects aim to develop the educational and sports infrastructure of the capital, improve the accessibility of preschool and school institutions, as well as create comfortable conditions for sports and cultural leisure for the city's residents.
