Waste will be sourced from the Chui region
The head of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, announced plans for the construction of a second waste processing plant at a recent city hall meeting.
He reminded that on December 27, 2025, the first eco-technological plant in Central Asia was opened in the capital, which can process 1–1.2 tons of solid household waste per day and produce up to 30 megawatt-hours of electricity. To date, this plant has already processed 80,000 tons of waste.
According to the mayor, the new construction will begin in 2026. This will increase the total capacity of the complex to 3,000 tons per day, ensuring waste processing not only from the capital but also from the Chui region.
In addition, work continues on the development of a sorting and processing complex, which will have a capacity of 100 tons per day. There are also plans to launch a plant for deep waste processing, which will produce products for municipal needs: benches, trash cans, manhole covers, paving slabs, and other items.
