At a recent meeting of the Bishkek City Hall board, the results of the city's work for 2025 were summarized, and plans for 2026 were outlined, which include the construction of a second waste processing plant and the expansion of the waste disposal system.
The city mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, reported that on December 27, 2025, the first eco-technological plant in Central Asia was launched in Bishkek, which processes solid household waste. The plant is capable of processing between 1 to 1.2 tons of waste per day and generating up to 30 megawatt-hours of electricity. Currently, 80 thousand tons of garbage have already been processed at this facility.
According to him, construction of a second such plant will begin in 2026, which will increase the total capacity of the complex to 3 thousand tons per day. This innovation will allow for the processing of waste not only from the capital but also from the Chui region.
In addition, the development of the sorting and processing complex in the city continues, with a capacity of 100 tons per day. Also, in 2026, the opening of a deep processing plant is planned, where products for municipal needs will be produced, such as benches, trash bins, manholes, and paving slabs.
