Over 60,000 enforcement proceedings for alimony were registered in 2025
Kapalov also noted that a draft law has been presented aimed at tightening responsibility for those who fail to fulfill their alimony obligations.
“We plan to introduce administrative arrest for debtors for a period of three to seven days. The Criminal Code also provides for imprisonment for a term of one to three years,” he reported, adding that this draft law has already passed its first reading in the Jogorku Kenesh.
The amount of alimony is determined taking into account the debtors' salaries and the region in which they reside. “If the debtor does not have a permanent job, the average monthly salary for the region is taken into account. For example, in Tokmok, alimony for one child starts from 7,000 soms depending on the number of children,” clarified Kubanychbek Kapalov.
It is worth noting that the General Prosecutor's Office has initiated a draft law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts in the Field of Enforcement Proceedings,” which provides for the introduction of the institution of private bailiffs and the strengthening of penalties for alimony non-payers.
