To fill the quarry, it is planned to use soil from the neighboring hills.
In the 12th microdistrict of Bishkek, residential complexes are planned to be built on the site of the existing quarry. This was reported by local residents in an interview with Vesti.kg.
To fill the quarry area, it is proposed to use materials from the nearest hills.
However, local residents express their concerns about the possible negative consequences both in terms of urban development and ecology.
The quarry in this area (near Aaly Tokombaev Street) is a significant industrial site that has been used for sand, gravel, and sand-gravel mixture extraction since 1968. In October 2023, a plot of over 60 hectares was returned to the state, and the city administration plans to use it to improve road infrastructure.
A new Eastern bypass road (16–32 km) is to be constructed in the southern part of the quarry, aimed at easing traffic from the direction of Kant. The project includes a 4-lane road running from the southern microdistricts (Zhukejeva-Pudovkina) through Kok-Jar and Kara-Jygach to Novopokrovka, as well as an elevated bridge and five interchanges. Construction work is planned to begin at the end of 2025.
Additionally, last year it became known about plans to demolish garages located near the quarry.
