A large-scale alaman ulak took place in Uzgen, drawing attention to safety issues. Unfortunately, during the events, tragic incidents occurred: one person died, and another sustained serious injuries; however, both situations occurred outside the playing field.
Since August 2025, the rules of alaman ulak have been under the control of the "Alaman ulak" federation. The chief referee of the federation, Melis Bektashev, noted that previously the game was played without clear rules, which often led to conflicts among participants and created many dangerous situations with horses. Now, judges are mandatory at every event, and clear rules have been established for players and their horses. Yellow and red cards are introduced for violations.
The federation plans to build a new racetrack covering 50 hectares in the "Manas" airport area, where significant competitions will be held. Additionally, there are plans to create playing fields in every region of the country.
Participants note that the maintenance of horses and the necessary equipment require significant expenses, but the excitement and the opportunity to participate in this national tradition remain the main motivations. Currently, alaman ulak is gradually transitioning to stricter rules, which contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and enhances the safety of players.
