According to information from Bloomberg, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is actively preparing his son Bilal for a potential role as his successor. Sources familiar with the current discussions within the ruling "Justice and Development Party" report that the issue of power transfer has become a frequent topic of conversation.
As part of these discussions, the possibility of gradually involving Bilal in politics is being considered, which could lead to his appointment to important positions, including party leadership.
According to Bloomberg, Bilal Erdogan is increasingly appearing in public: his activities are actively covered by state media, and his father often takes him along on foreign trips. Currently, Bilal is receiving informal political training and participating in personnel decision-making processes within the party and government.
However, agency sources warn that the success of these efforts is not guaranteed. At the same time, the current political situation in the country appears quite favorable for the incumbent president. Turkey is strengthening its international influence, covering regions such as Syria and Somalia, while Erdogan maintains active contacts with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to Bloomberg, the harsh measures to suppress opposition forces in the country have not yet led to significant political losses for the authorities.
One of the main risks, according to the agency, is the "cost of living crisis," which could undermine voter support, including that of millions of pensioners. Although inflation in Turkey exceeds 30 percent, it is beginning to slow down, and analysts at Bloomberg Economics estimate that this could positively affect consumer sentiment and influence the results of the upcoming elections.
There is also uncertainty regarding the fate of the peace process with Kurdish forces. If the process concludes successfully, Erdogan could present it as a significant achievement. Otherwise, the authorities may revert to a tougher policy, hoping to gain support from nationalist-minded voters.
