During the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development on February 9, Deputy Aysara Abdibaeva raised a question about how self-sufficient Kyrgyzstan is in the production of milk and dairy products.

First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev confirmed that the country is self-sufficient in milk production and that some of it is exported to Kazakhstan.

In response to this statement, Abdibaeva said: "Our natural milk is bought and then exported to us in pasteurized form for 110 soms. The same is happening with Russia. This requires attention."

The Deputy Minister added that Kazakhstan does not purchase raw materials but prefers finished products, which are pasteurized to extend shelf life.

“But in our country, instead of milk, people only drink powder. A commission needs to be created to address this issue. If farmers opened a store in Bishkek, the products would quickly find their buyers. We, city dwellers, don’t even realize what we are drinking. And our ecologically clean milk is being exported,” the deputy emphasized in her speech.
