The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan is considering a draft law that proposes introducing administrative liability for insults on the internet and social media. It is suggested to impose fines of up to 5 million sums or to assign arrest for a period of up to 10 days.

Deputy Alisher Kadirov emphasized that "ignorance cannot be overcome solely through education — punitive measures are also needed."

The draft law, in particular, includes measures against the use of obscene language and indecent expressions, as well as other actions that violate public order online. According to the parliamentarians, this initiative is important for maintaining public tranquility.

Deputy Khushvaqt Khaitov noted that the increase in cases of using profanity and offensive behavior on social media demonstrates a serious violation of public morality. He added that such actions contribute to the spread of aggressive sentiments and disrespect, especially among the youth.
