In Uzbekistan, fines will be imposed for advertising participation in hostilities abroad

On February 3, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held the first reading of amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility, as reported by the press service of the lower house.

The new amendments proposed by Uzbek deputies will address administrative responsibility for the dissemination of information and materials that call for participation in military actions abroad or on the side of a foreign state.

As lawmakers emphasized, this initiative is aimed at minimizing the negative impact on society, especially on the youth.

Deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party Khushvaqt Khaitov noted that during local research, many graffiti and leaflets were found posted on the walls of high-rise buildings and street lamps. These materials contain links to Telegram channels offering jobs abroad or promising large sums of money. Through these links, people are drawn into participation in hostilities or drug trafficking, he told the publication Gazeta.uz.

Earlier, the internet resource Fergana reported that residents of Tashkent began receiving strange messages from strangers on Telegram, and in responding to them, they encountered offers to work as drug couriers ("planners").
