"Bishkek Maniac" Found Dead in Pretrial Detention Center

Kumarbek Abdyrov, suspected of the brutal murder of 17-year-old Aysulu M., Kamila Duyshebaeva, and several other women, was found dead in the Pretrial Detention Center No. 1. The State Penitentiary Service (GPS) confirmed that the cause of death was suicide. Abdyrov was arrested last October after the disappearance of the minor Aysulu, who was traveling from the village of Barskoon to the village of Jenish and did not return home. Surveillance cameras recorded her getting into a Honda Stream car, driven by Abdyrov. The investigation suggests that he took her to an apple orchard, committed violent acts, and killed her, then disposed of her body in the Boom Gorge.

After his arrest in Bishkek, Abdyrov confessed to a number of other crimes. In 2006, he attacked a girl who was walking with her mother, hitting her with an iron rod and stealing her phone. The victim's relatives requested reconciliation since he was the only son, resulting in the court imposing a fine of 5,000 soms. In 2011, the body of a girl who had gone missing a month earlier was found in a field near the village of Orok; she was pregnant and had been subjected to violence.

19-year-old Kamila Duyshebaeva disappeared on March 10, 2014, in Bishkek. Her body, showing signs of strangulation with her own scarf, was found in the village of Baytik six days later. Three days later, the body of 22-year-old M.S.N., also raped and strangled, was discovered in the Razzakov street area. In 2015, Abdyrov attempted to kill another girl by throwing her into a canal and dropping a large stone that hit her arm. She survived and managed to reach the hospital. He was subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison, but the term was reduced to seven years.
