This season, spring fieldwork in the Aravan District also includes potato planting, as reported by Abdyraim Bokoey, the head of the district agricultural development management.
According to his statement, in 2025 it is planned to plant potatoes on 1,720 hectares, which is 18 hectares more than in 2023.
“Spring fieldwork in Aravan began on January 27-28 due to favorable weather conditions. In localities such as the rural district named after S. Yusupova and the village of Kyzyl-Dobo, potato planting under film has already started. We plan to increase the area to 1,720 hectares. We are planting the varieties "Agata," "Alvara," "Reviere," and a new variety "Aktrisa," which are early-maturing and will be ready for sale by May. We expect that this year the prices for potatoes will be higher,” noted Bokoey.
Currently, potatoes in the markets of the city of Osh are sold at prices ranging from 50 to 80 soms per kilogram.
Due to climatic conditions, potato planting in the Aravan District starts 10 days earlier each year.
