About 82 percent of deaths in the Kyrgyz Republic are related to non-communicable diseases
These diseases include cardiovascular, oncological, as well as respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Known risk factors include poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, smoking, and alcohol abuse. According to the results of the STEPS study, 76.2% of the population does not lead an active lifestyle, 44% smoke, and 48.9% consume alcohol. Moreover, more than half of our health (50-55%) depends on our lifestyle. Thus, the prevention of NCDs begins not in a medical institution, but with our everyday choices.
Regular physical activity helps improve circulation, control weight, and normalize blood sugar and cholesterol levels, which reduces the risk of developing hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and cancer.
It is important to note that exercising does not necessarily have to be done in a gym. Just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day is enough—this can be brisk walking, dancing, gardening, or playing with children.
More intense exercises, such as running, swimming, cycling, or playing sports, also contribute to strengthening the cardiovascular system.
However, maximum effect can only be achieved in combination: regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and giving up bad habits. Such simple solutions help maintain health for many years.
