The volume of freight transportation by rail will reach 10.5 million tons in 2025
According to the provided data, for a long time, the average annual volume of cargo transported by rail did not exceed 7 million tons. However, by the end of 2024, this figure had already increased to 9.2 million tons, and in 2025 it reached a record 10.5 million tons, which is 114.2% compared to the previous year. This is 1.3 million tons more than in 2024.
Currently, the construction of a 50-kilometer section of the Balykchy – Kochkor railway is nearing completion with funds from the National Company "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu." The projected length of the road is 63.4 kilometers.
Additionally, work has been successfully carried out on the construction of the foundation for the Kochkor station, where the construction of the station building is currently ongoing. The monolithic concrete frame has already been installed on the first floor. It is expected that the Kochkor station will be put into operation in 2026, and this section of the Kyrgyz railway will begin functioning.
Furthermore, large-scale construction work has begun along the entire length of the "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan" railway, which plans to build 50 bridges and 29 tunnels.
Temporary infrastructure facilities necessary for the implementation of this project have also been constructed in a short time. The installation of a temporary power line has been completed, and temporary tracks have been created along the entire length of the railway (192.323 kilometers). Eleven main construction camps have been put into operation, and all 29 tunnels are currently at the underground work stage.
