The deputy proposes to require men to deposit funds in case of divorce.
He emphasized that after divorces, women often find themselves without financial support, as men fail to fulfill their alimony obligations.
“In Kyrgyz culture, there is a tradition of ‘ene sutu’ — a monetary payment to the bride's mother from the groom. I propose to legalize this custom. Let the funds be deposited into an account that will protect the interests of the children. Perhaps we should also introduce the concept of family guarantors who could provide financial assistance in the event of a divorce,” Bekeshev stated.
Meanwhile, members of the Jogorku Kenesh committee on judicial and legal issues and the fight against crime reviewed a bill from the General Prosecutor's Office concerning amendments to the legislation on enforcement proceedings. This bill proposes the introduction of private bailiffs and increased liability for those who do not pay alimony.
