In the city of Gulcho, the drainage canal has not been cleaned for three decades — it will be handed over to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).

According to local administration information, on February 3, Mayor Nursultan Tajibaev, along with representatives of the city hall and the district department of the MES for the Alai district, visited the site to check the condition of the drainage canals. During the visit, it was established that many canals within the city limits had not been cleaned for a long time, and in some places, they have virtually disappeared and run through private yards, causing damage to neighboring plots.

As noted by Mayor Tajibaev, the length of the drainage canal is 3,434 meters. In 2018, the MES had already attempted to clean it, but local residents obstructed this work, and the project was not implemented. "This year we propose to transfer the management of the canal to the MES. During the inspection, two structures were found: one citizen built a kitchen over the canal, and another built a barn. In addition, many houses are surrounded by fences. All barriers located in the protective zone of the drainage canal will be dismantled. The canal has not been cleaned for 25-30 years," the mayor reported.
