6,000 cases are identified annually. The deputy spoke about the problems faced by cancer patients.
She reported that 6,000 new cases of oncological diseases are identified annually in Kyrgyzstan, while 35,000 patients are under dispensary observation.
“Cancer ranks second among the causes of mortality. 40% of cases are diagnosed at stages 3 and 4, which indicates delayed diagnosis. More than half of those affected—55%—are of working age, between 35 and 64 years,” she noted.
According to her, international standards require 20 linear accelerators for a population of 7 million, but Kyrgyzstan has only 3 machines, which quickly break down.
Additionally, the parliamentarian emphasized the lack of a modern diagnostic base for molecular-genetic and immunohistochemical studies. All tests are sent abroad, which negatively affects the timeliness of diagnosis.
Gulnara Baatyrova also added that the country lacks about 80 essential medicines and faces issues with palliative care, particularly a shortage of narcotic analgesics.
