Truck congestion at the border: comment from the Association of International Freight Carriers
He pointed out the increased inspections by the Border Service of Kazakhstan and the Committee for State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which, as a consequence, causes a buildup of trucks at the border.
Golubev noted that such checks are conducted periodically.
“At the 'Ken-Bulun' checkpoint, there are queues of empty trucks, and at the 'Karasu' checkpoint, a large number of vehicles are accumulating for inspection. The queue extends beyond the cement plant in the city of Kant,” he explained.
In addition, the association is actively interacting with government structures.
Golubev also emphasized the need for modernization of border points on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh section.
“We have included this issue in the development program of Kyrgyzstan as a logistics hub until 2030. The implementation of this program will help reduce queues and increase the efficiency of freight transportation,” he added.
It was previously reported that at the checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan, the movement of trucks has been almost completely halted — drivers state that they have been unable to cross the border for the third day.
The Eurasian Economic Commission also confirmed information about the situation at some sections of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, explaining that delays are related to planned and targeted control measures aimed at combating the illegal turnover of goods.
The Kazakh side noted that these measures are temporary and do not affect the regime of Eurasian integration.
