The Ministry of Education has published important clarifications for the parents of future schoolchildren regarding the age norms of the new 12-year education system.

Department specialist Olga Bryzgalova emphasized that there are no plans for any drastic changes in the 2026/27 academic year. Admission of children to schools will be carried out strictly according to their age.

“In the next academic year, children aged six will start school. If anyone hopes that a seven-year-old child will be able to go straight to the second grade, that is not the case. All children will begin their education from the first grade of the 12-year school. Transfers between grades will be carried out according to the standard scheme,” she noted.

Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Abakir Mamytov added that the transition to the new educational model will be more gradual and consistent. Next year, the curriculum for third grades will be updated, and there will be significant work on modernizing programs for senior classes.

“In the upcoming academic year, changes will occur more steadily, and the content of the third-grade program will be revised. Each year, we will strive for stabilization,”

“An important task ahead is the implementation of specialized education. Currently, a working group is developing a concept, and when it is ready, it may raise many questions in schools,”

— he added.
