In anticipation of the 2026/2027 school year, no significant changes are expected in the process of transferring students between grades as part of the transition to a 12-year education system. This was reported by Olga Bryzgalova, a representative of the Ministry of Education, at a recent briefing.
She reminded that last school year, schools accepted children into the first and second grades starting at the age of six.
“Next year, only six-year-old children will be admitted to the first grade. If parents assume that seven-year-old children will be in the second grade, they are mistaken — all children will enter the first grade of the 12-year program,” Bryzgalova clarified.
Professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Abakir Mamytov added that during the transition period, two educational programs were used: one for prepared children under the "Narisete" system and one for unprepared children. However, next school year, a unified program is planned to be implemented.
“In the future, we will face another important task — the implementation of specialized education. Currently, a working group is developing the corresponding concept. As soon as the document is presented, questions will arise that will require discussion,” he noted.
The briefing also emphasized that as part of the update of the educational process, a continuous education program for teachers is ongoing.
