Duyshenaly Toktakunov, Deputy Chairman of the Drivers' Union of Kyrgyzstan, criticized the driver training system during a meeting with President Sadyr Japarov, noting that it has been functioning formally for many years. According to him, this has led to an increase in accidents, corruption, and a lack of basic skills among many driving school graduates.
According to Toktakunov, there were 275 private driving schools operating in the country, where training lasted only 2–3 months, but the quality of education left much to be desired. Many candidates for obtaining a driver's license took exams multiple times, while some continued to hope for informal methods.
He also emphasized that about 12% of drivers obtained their licenses through corrupt schemes, lacking even minimal knowledge.
Toktakunov added that the new examination system is now entirely based on artificial intelligence, which eliminates the influence of the human factor. A candidate can only pass the exam if they have a sufficient level of preparation.
In conclusion, he urged citizens to support the reform in driver training.
