The deputy raised questions about suicide, service, and salaries in the army.
At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised a number of pressing issues with representatives of the Ministry of Defense.
Surabaldiyeva expressed her deep concern about the increasing number of suicide cases among youth.
“Many parents come with terrible stories. We need to work together with law enforcement agencies to analyze why we are losing our children. Some have hanged themselves, some have shot themselves, and no one is studying the reasons,” she emphasized.
In addition, the parliamentarian asked questions about the rising costs and conditions of alternative service.
A representative of the Ministry of Defense explained that according to current legislation, citizens who have reached the age of 18 can serve in alternative service for a duration of 18 months.
“The existing medical order No. 787 takes into account 12 diseases for which citizens can be exempted from service, including vision problems, myopia, hemorrhoids, and others,” he added.
The deputy also inquired about the salaries of military personnel.
In response, ministry representatives reported that the salaries of military personnel had been increased by 100% depending on length of service and rank.
“Currently, military personnel can earn up to 100,000 soms per month, which includes expenses for maintaining each serviceman,” he noted.
