In Kyrgyzstan, changing gender will be banned
Parents will be required to raise their children according to their biological sex
A draft law has been presented in the Jogorku Kenesh that proposes a ban on changing one's sex. This project has been put forward for public discussion.
The amendments concern changes to the Family Code, as well as to the legislation regulating "acts of civil status" and "protection of citizens' health." The main goal of these changes is to establish the immutability of biological sex in official documents and to strictly limit procedures related to its alteration.
As stated by the initiators of the draft law, a person's sex should be determined solely based on biological characteristics recorded at birth. Neither the citizen themselves, nor medical conclusions, nor court decisions will be able to change the record of sex. Any medical intervention concerning sex change is prohibited, including surgical operations and hormone therapy, except in cases related to the treatment of congenital anomalies of sexual development.
Additionally, parents will be required to raise their children in accordance with their biological sex.
