In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in cases of allergic rhinitis in Kyrgyzstan — the increase has amounted to 2.5 times. This was reported by Zharkynbek Kasymbekov, the director of the National Institute of Public Health (NIOZ), during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to issues of ecology and health.

Kasymbekov noted that there are currently no detailed studies that accurately indicate the impact of smog on public health, which complicates comprehensive assessments.

“Despite this, we are observing an increase in respiratory diseases, in particular, the number of cases of allergic rhinitis has increased by 2.5 times, especially among young people. This is related to the deterioration of air quality,” he added.

Deputy Nilufar Alimjanova also raised the issue of the need for a deeper analysis of the impact of smog on public health. She pointed out the insufficient reflection in reports of the effects of air pollution on citizens, emphasizing the rise in diseases such as asthma and allergies, especially among children and the elderly.

Alimjanova emphasized that the discussion of the problem is mainly focused on Bishkek and Osh, calling for attention to be paid to regions where coal is actively used and gasification is absent.
