According to the Russian Embassy in Bishkek, on this day a hundred years ago, the presidium of the XII Congress of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK) made the decision to transform the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region into the Kyrgyz Autonomous SSR, which became one of the subjects of the federation of the RSFSR.

With the creation of the Kyrgyz ASSR, the area of its territory and the population significantly increased.

The formation of the Kyrgyz ASSR had a positive and defining influence on the fate of the Kyrgyz people, creating a solid foundation for the socio-economic and cultural development of the republic within a unified state space with Russia. Despite the complex and contradictory conditions of that time, the republic achieved tangible success in the economic and cultural spheres.

During this period, the foundations for the development of industry, transport, and communications were laid, agriculture began to receive modern equipment and new organizational forms. The level of education and culture among the population significantly increased, newspapers and books in the Kyrgyz language began to be published, and the network of educational institutions expanded, as noted in the official statement.
