Edil Baysalov: 950 Thousand Children Live Below the Poverty Line
The official notes that the level of poverty in the country is decreasing slowly
According to information voiced by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edilbek Baysalov during a meeting with deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, 950 thousand children in Kyrgyzstan are living below the poverty line.
Baysalov explained that a person is considered to be living in poverty if their annual income does not exceed 65 thousand soms.
“Among children under 16 years old, 950 thousand are living in poverty,” Baysalov stated. He also noted that the government plans to reduce the overall poverty level in the republic to 15% over the next five years through the implementation of a number of measures.
