The deputy advises not to rush with trams: In 15 years, no one will be riding on the ground.
In response to his question about the feasibility of this mode of transport, Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov noted that these are modern trams, which differ from the old Soviet models.
The official emphasized that preliminary calculations show that the construction of a monorail will cost 70-80 million soms per kilometer, while a tram line will require only 15 million. Project updates can be conducted every five years, and he added that the trams will use air cushion technology. He also noted that similar transport systems are already successfully operating in Arab countries, as well as in China and Korea.
However, Kydyraliev believes that the main issue is not the budget.
“We spend a lot of resources on traffic jams. It is important to implement transport that will meet the requirements of 2050. If we economize on this, we may fall behind progress. We need to carefully analyze the situation. I suggest postponing the implementation of trams for now and not rushing into it. In the next 10-15 years, we are expecting a technological breakthrough, and ground transport will become outdated. Transportation should move to the air. In the future, we will be moving on foot or by bicycle. No one will use ground transport that harms the environment,” the deputy concluded.
