The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Osh Region, Amankan Kenzhebaev, on January 23, as part of a working trip to the Nookat District, familiarized himself with the current state of the Urkuya Salieva Museum in the Tooloski rural district.

This was reported by the press service of the presidential representative office in the Osh region.

The building housing the museum was constructed in the 1980s using the asharny method and has since deteriorated to a state unsuitable for operation. The museum management and the head of the village council reported that they have proposed the initiative to build a new museum complex and presented the initial sketch project to the regional leader.

The representative supported the initiative and promised to consider the issue of assisting in the construction of the new museum and to work towards its resolution.
Turmush previously reported that on November 29, 2024, residents spoke about the deplorable condition of the Urkuya Salieva Museum.

The museum is located in the Tooloski rural district of the Nookat region in the Osh region.

According to the villagers, the walls of the museum were built using the asharny method, and each year the foundation sinks more and more.

The museum director, Nurzada Asanova, stated that a conclusion about the building's emergency condition was issued back in 2022. “In anticipation of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Urkuya Salieva, major and cosmetic repairs were carried out, and since then 14 years have passed. In general, the foundation was built poorly; it was constructed using the asharny method. Each year it sinks more. There is no heating system in the museum, the quality of the stored exhibits is deteriorating, which poses a threat of loss in the future,” she said.

The condition of the building was checked by specialists from the district emergency department. In 2022, specialists from the State Institute of Seismic Resistant Construction and Engineering Design (GISSP) under the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services conducted an engineering study of the building and concluded that it was in an emergency state. An act with a technical conclusion was drawn up,” Asanova reported.

The museum named after U. Salieva is located in the central park of the Tooloski rural district, covering an area of 350 square meters. The museum houses 2,100 exhibits, and it is visited by 1,500 to 2,500 people each year, including foreign tourists.
Urkuya Salieva was born in 1910 in the village of Merki-Murkut in the Nookat district to a peasant family. When she was 17, Urkuya became the secretary of the Komsomol cell.

In 1928, against customs, she was elected chairwoman of the village council of Merki-Murkut. A year later, at the age of 20, Urkuya organized the Kyzyl-Asker collective farm. Local wealthy individuals, who resisted Soviet power by all means, also agreed that a woman should lead the collective farm, mistakenly believing that she would not cope with the new and difficult task. Soon, Salieva was elected as a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Republic.

In the early years of socialism, in 1934, Urkuya Salieva, at the age of 24, was killed by enemies of Soviet power, just a few days before her 24th birthday. The Saliev family had three children. At that time, their eldest daughter Ainis was 8 years old, their son Kenesh was 3 years old, and their third child was only 5 days old.
