In the run-up to the Day of the Complete Liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, a commemorative event titled "Spark of Hope" took place in the city of Kant.
Representatives of the city administration, employees of the Chui Regional Library, local school students, and servicemen from the Russian aviation base gathered at the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

Participants of the event lit candles in memory of those who did not return from the front and honored them with a moment of silence. In memory of them, the 7th Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed under the conditions of the blockade and becoming a symbol of courage and resilience, was played.

82 years ago, Leningrad was completely liberated from the blockade, which lasted 872 days, accompanied by hunger, cold, and numerous losses.

The participants of the event emphasized that the memory of the blockade is not just a date on the calendar, but an important reminder of the cost of Victory and the necessity to preserve these events in public memory for future generations.

As of today, there are only 11 people left in Kyrgyzstan who survived the blockade, of whom nine live in Bishkek.
