Recently, an online meeting of the expert group took place, focusing on refining the joint action plan for CIS countries to combat tuberculosis for the years 2027-2030. Specialists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the discussion, reviewing the proposed measures to prevent the spread of this disease.

The foundation of the document was an analysis of the current epidemiological situation and a forecast of its changes in CIS countries by 2030.
The Commonwealth countries aim to fulfill commitments to reduce tuberculosis morbidity by 20% and mortality by 35% compared to 2015 data, as well as to ensure comprehensive medical and social support for all patients.
According to information provided by the CIS Executive Committee, the key task of the document is to strengthen cooperation to reduce the impact of tuberculosis on society. Meeting participants discussed the need to improve preventive measures, especially in high-risk groups, as well as to develop coordinated approaches for the early detection of all forms of tuberculosis and to ensure access to drug resistance testing, including for migrants.

Additionally, special attention will be paid to organizing effective treatment for patients with various forms of tuberculosis. An important part of the plan is the training of healthcare professionals, including doctors and nursing staff, in early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with tuberculosis.

Participants also emphasized the need for active use of educational centers that collaborate with WHO in CIS countries and discussed the possibility of conducting online courses with the WHO European Regional Office.
