
A meeting took place in Bishkek between the Minister of Health Kanaybek Dosmambetov and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States to the Kyrgyz Republic Leslie Viguerie.
The press service of the Ministry of Health reported that the meeting discussed issues of cooperation in the field of health care, including the exchange of experience in public health, disease prevention, training of medical personnel, and the implementation of modern technologies in medicine.
One of the key points of the discussion was the mention of developing a plan for the construction of a medical town in Bishkek. As part of this project, the acquisition of modern medical and laboratory equipment is planned, including from leading American manufacturers. There was also expressed interest in internships and advanced training for Kyrgyz doctors in the USA.
According to the memorandum, the United States intends to focus on three main areas:
- ensuring access to medical services and medications for people living with HIV;
- supporting the national tuberculosis control program;
- strengthening sanitary and epidemiological safety.
The parties expressed their intention to continue joint work on health issues, epidemiological safety, infrastructure modernization, and training of medical personnel.
