The Chief of Staff of the President, Kanibek Tumanbaev, initiated an unscheduled inspection at the State Institution "Unaa" to evaluate its activities.
According to the press service, during this inspection, processes related to the registration and re-registration of vehicles, as well as the issuance and replacement of driver's licenses, were analyzed. Special attention was given to the organization of services provided to citizens and compliance with safety standards.
Tumanbaev emphasized that old indefinite driver's licenses contain photographs of citizens taken 20-30 years ago, which complicates identity verification. Furthermore, such documents do not have a sufficient level of protection and can be easily forged, posing a security threat. It is also worth noting that such licenses are not recognized as valid abroad, rendering them invalid at the international level.
In light of the above, attention was drawn to the necessity of strict control and compliance of documents with modern standards.
The Chief of Staff of the President instructed to accelerate the digitalization of processes related to the issuance of driver's licenses and vehicle registration, as well as to expand digital services and update information.
According to the department, from January 15 to 21, 2026, within the framework of replacing indefinite licenses, the following was registered:
- 46,431 applications in online format,
- 32,528 applications in offline format.
As a result of the inspection, it was noted that it is important to strengthen control over the provision of public services, ensure safety, and consistently implement digital solutions.
