The mayor of the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Aibek Junushaliev, announced the possibility of increasing fares for public transportation.
He emphasized the necessity of this step to raise the salaries of bus drivers and improve the technical condition of the vehicles.
"Like it or not, we have to make this decision. The idea of increasing fares has been discussed for a long time, and I have asked for this issue to be refined. We need to review the current rates to encourage citizens to switch to cashless payments. This will ensure compliance with traffic rules, and drivers will not be distracted. Moreover, such a measure will make passengers more disciplined. The resolution of many issues will become possible, and the budget will be more transparent," the mayor noted.
