Days of Kyrgyz Cinema to Be Held in Kazakhstan

In Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Film Days will take place on January 29 and 30, as reported by the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan. This cultural event aims to strengthen the ties between the two fraternal nations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for January 29 at 18:00. The first film to be screened will be the work of renowned director Aktan Arym Kubat titled "Kara, kyzy, sary" ("Black, Red, Yellow"). This philosophical drama tells the story of the fate and artistry of a weaver from Batken, who was awarded the Grand Prize "Golden Cup" at the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival in 2025. Additionally, the film received the UNESCO Prize at the APSA Awards and was nominated from Kyrgyzstan for the Oscar.

The following day, January 30, also at 18:00, the audience will be presented with the drama "Kachkyn" ("The Fugitive") by director Dastan Japar uulu. This film became a leader at the national film award "Ak Ilbiris" in 2026, winning awards in the categories of "Best Film," "Best Screenplay," and "Best Direction." The film was also awarded the Best Screenplay prize at the SCO countries festival in China and participated in prestigious film festivals in Busan and Los Angeles.

The film screenings will take place at the Chaplin Mega Silk Way cinema, located in the Mega Silk Way shopping center in Astana. The films will be shown in the Kyrgyz language with Russian subtitles, and admission will be free.
