In Kyrgyzstan, the issue of protecting medical workers is acute, as emphasized at a press conference by the Chairman of the Professional Union of Healthcare Workers, Sultan Abdildaev.

According to him, the main factors are low salaries, overtime due to staff shortages, and employee burnout. All of this creates significant tension in the healthcare system.

Sultan Abdildaev noted that one of the solutions to this situation should be an increase in salaries and an elevation of the status of medical professionals. He expressed hope for the promised 100% salary increase expected from April 1, 2026.

He also mentioned instances of violence against medical workers and pressure from independent bloggers. The chairman expressed hope that tightening penalties for such actions would help improve the protection of medical workers' rights.
Fines and penalties: A fine of up to 100,000 or a sentence of up to 5 years. Will this save doctors and teachers from attacks?
Additionally, Abdildaev noted that finances in the healthcare system are limited, and there is no possibility to ensure the presence of lawyers or occupational safety engineers in every organization.

“Therefore, this year we set ourselves the task of increasing the legal and labor knowledge of trade union committees and primary organizations. This will help them promptly address issues within teams, such as illegal dismissals, administrative measures, incorrect salary calculations, as well as issues related to the provision of special clothing and personal protective equipment. Our goal is for trade union committees to be able to handle these problems at the team level without resorting to litigation. This is important because the removal of workers from their duties creates additional conflicts, resulting in harm to patients and the budget, as this also incurs significant costs,” he concluded.
