The Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan returns to its core function

At a press conference at the Kabar agency, the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan, Muradil Jumadilde uulu, stated that the association of trade unions in the eyes of many people was most often associated with vacation packages. However, the true purpose of creating this organization is to protect the rights of workers.

“Nevertheless, the very essence of creating trade unions was precisely to protect the labor rights of workers,” he emphasized.

According to Jumadilde uulu, the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan has deviated from its core mission for 35 years, focusing on issues of power and property distribution.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov also emphasized in 2023 that trade unions were actually engaged in managing property and vacation packages, failing to perform their core functions.

The situation began to change with the arrival of new leadership in 2024. In the two years since the team was renewed, the Federation can already share the first results of its work.

One of the priority areas has been improving property management. Currently, the resources of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan have been transferred for operational management to the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic under lease conditions, while the Federation continues to be the owner of the balance.

This decision was prompted by the ineffective use of resources in the past, when allocated funds were not used for their intended purpose, leading to a deterioration in the condition of the Federation's sanatoriums.

"After the transfer of facilities to the Presidential Administration, the state allocated 1.1 billion soms for major repairs and the construction of new buildings," said Jumadilde uulu.
In addition, a moratorium is currently in effect, which will last until January 1, 2028. Under this moratorium, all funds from the Workers' Health Fund will be directed exclusively towards the repair and modernization of sanatoriums. In 2024, major repairs were completed at the "Issyk-Ata" sanatorium and the "Ulan" DOS, while work continues on the facilities in "Jeti-Oguz."
