Electronic bracelets used for the first time in Bishkek in cases of domestic violence
In the Kyrgyz Republic, a system of electronic monitoring in cases related to domestic violence is being implemented for the first time. This was announced by the Minister of Justice Aiaz Bayetov on his social media page.
Since the beginning of January this year, the use of protection orders in a new format has begun, which includes the application of electronic bracelets and mobile monitoring. This system involves GPS tracking and regular identification of individuals using Face ID.
In the pilot project taking place in the Oktobrskiy district of Bishkek, the first 15 individuals subject to protection orders have come under electronic monitoring. The duration of this measure varies from 20 days to 3 months.
“By the directive of the country's leadership, starting next week, electronic monitoring will also be applied to initial temporary protection orders. In the future, we plan to expand this practice to other districts of the capital and then to the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan,” he added.
This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court, and the Probation Department under the Ministry of Justice.
The Minister emphasized that the law on the introduction of electronic monitoring to strengthen protection orders was developed as part of the debureaucratization process and was signed by the president in October 2025.
